Join us as we celebrate the National Park Service's (NPS) Centennial and dedicate a new mural in Seward, Alaska. NPS Director Jonathan Jarvis will be on hand for the dedication. The design, which features two kayakers in Aialik Bay approaching one of Kenai Fjords’ magnificent tidewater glaciers, was developed by acclaimed Alaskan artist Byron Birdsall.

Connecting the Centennial, the park, and the community, volunteers at the Seward Music & Arts Festival contributed to this project by painting the design onto large aluminum panels. A mural is a natural way for Kenai Fjords to celebrate the Centennial, since Seward is known as the “Mural Capital of Alaska”.

Kenai Fjords acknowledges the help of great park partners: Alaska Geographic, Seward Arts Council, and the Seward Mural Society, who have all contributed to the creation and installation of this artwork.

Light refreshments will be available at the event.
